Tree Stencil project Book Vol 1

The new Tree stencils pattern ebook is made for for tree lovers and helps demystify the process of building totally unique and elegant trees from logical template building blocks.

The three step by step projects in the book are pretty much stenciling by numbers using the wall as your canvas. There are four pattern sets so far (updates are inevitable). Two branch sets that cover about 25 components each. Two leaf sets and one cherry blossom set.

There are 4 levels of branch reduction that end to end result in trees as high as eight feet high and eight feet wide. The same stencils can create trees as small as a couple of feet high.

The tree pattern components are surprisingly easy and fast to cut even if your cutting skills need some polish. The leaf and cherry blossom stencils are a little more time consuming to cut.
The payoff is that once the tree stencils are cut onto quality stencil film (polyester film) they will literally last for years and hundred of impressions.

Some of my favorite childhood memories have been of joyful times spent playing around the pristine ponds and creeks that surrounded my once semi rural neighborhood. That was back in the 1960′s. Unfortunately, developers have since seen fit to transform my playgrounds into concrete shopping centers and mundane housing developments.

My time this month has been spent creating a number of stencils that would allow you to recreate life-like pond scenes that include many of the visual elements you would find in such a natural setting.

The water lily stencil theme pack is designed for free-form wall mural painting. The water lily’s, water ripples and lily pads are drawn in perspective, and the elements can be placed so that they naturally recede into the horizon line.

There are registration marks to worry about, so it’s easy to paint a large mural without any special painting effects and only some basic planning. If you want to go a step further, you can add any number of cattail stencils and dragonfly stencils to complete an eye catching panoramic wall mural. All of the stencils in the pond scene theme are matched for size and proportion.

This is one stencil set where you can have a lot of creative fun and totally impress your friends with stunning wall murals or canvas backdrops. If you happen to be a painter, or mural artist, these themed stencils could also be a great mural service to offer your clients.

Skeleton wall mural

This is not a really a mural them you would consider for the baby’s nursery. The skeleton theme set may however have some appeal for lovers of ancient history or archeology .
The idea behind this design is to impart a certain museum flavor to your living space or bedroom.

Although having a skeleton on your wall may seem a bit macabre at first, the addition of fractured pottery in vivid colors and the addition of ancient weapon motifs gives the pattern set a whole new context.

I had originally conceived the skeleton to be life size but the laser cutting cost would doubled the price of the theme set.

The skeleton works well against earth and sand colored walls or doors and there are endless ways to arrange the pottery fragments for an all over burial scene wall mural.

I am very tempted to add more motifs such as a treasure chest, coins and swords to the stencil theme over time.

The skeleton stencil motif is also available on its own, minus the pottery fragments.

The butterfly stencil theme pack is designed for interior decorators who really want to go to town with wall to wall butterfly murals. The Stencil set has 15 butterflies

arranged on 4 sheets of 5 mil Mylar film. The butterfly motifs range in size from over 8 inches down to two inches. I wanted to capture the movement of the butterflies rather than the wing patterns.

The idea was to make the walls come to life with dynamic flight and lightness,

The butterfly stencils are ideal for nurseries and kids rooms but it really doesn’t mater where you paint them because they will bring any room in your home to new life.

By leaving out any wing patterns it leaves the designer plenty of scope for experimentation. The wings can be treated with numerous paint effects like splattering, sponging and airbrushing.

My view is that if the stencils work well as a simple silhouette, then other paint treatment you give them will work just fine. The stencils are also very suitable for fabric painting T-shirts, leggings, curtaining and wall hangings.

The butterfly motifs can also be extended to any furniture within the room.

Having a sufficient supply of bamboo stencils to create a life size wall mural can be time consuming to design yourself. Bamboo stencil paintingMany large bamboo stencils are also quite expensive and don’t necessarily give you the amount of scope you need for designing your own unique bamboo mural art.

This new 150 page ebook can help you create an limitless range of bamboo wall art, fabric paintings and art panels. Even if you have absolutely no mural painting experience, you will find the step by step layout instructions easy to understand. The Bamboo Mural Stencil Ebook contains 3 complete stencil sets with over 50 pages of printable bamboo stems, leaves and leaf groupings. The ebook also has over 20 pages of bamboo designs that you can copy or modify for your own projects.
If you are handy with a scalpel or Xacto knife, this may be just what you’ve been looking for.
The stencils can be printed out directly from your inkjet or laser printer onto double matt drafting film to save you time and effort.

The ebook contains a comprehensive list of materials and resources you might require and new material is being added on a weekly basis. The price is only $12.00.

Are you searching for design inspiration for your next stenciling project. Or perhaps you need some pictures to use as reference material for a particular design?
Check out this list of invaluable online resources that I personally use to get my creative juices flowing when looking for a new Stenciling theme, motif or design to explore or develop into a new product.
Most of the resources I have outlined below, are Vintage or Antique. To the best of my knowledge, art and design created prior to 1914 is in the public domain. Please take note that the photos and illustrations of the original artwork are the property of the copyright holder.
The way I work is essentially to redraw by hand a design that I like using the online photos as a reference. I then scan in my redrawn artwork and develop it into a stencil using my favorite tools of trade, Photoshop and Corel Draw.

Without a doubt one of the easiest and most cost effective ways to paint fabric is by making and using stencils. I have used stencils in my own business for many years and have painted literally thousands of clothing items on a shoestring budget. Some of the advantages of using stencils as compared with say, silkscreen is that you can develop and modify your designs very quickly and with very little expense aside from your time and a little Mylar stencil film.

When you combine stenciling with a little basic airbrushing you can transform a basic silhouette into an amazing piece of fabric art. Over the years I developed my own style of painting and design choice. Painting onto black fabric had more than its share of challenges. Customers were reluctant to consider any garment, which was less than perfect, and designs had to be painted in a consistent manner in order to be profitable. On top of this any mistakes I made would cost me the price of the fabric, which meant losing around $15 every time I splattered paint on an otherwise perfect design.

Choosing the right paints for your projects is important especially when painted black or dark fabrics. If the fabric had a synthetic content, additives would be added (more…)

Bamboo Stencil Mural

I love having bamboo in and around the house. It gives me a sense of piece and tranquility, perhaps more so than any other plant I can think of. For this reason I created a bamboo wall stencil set that could be creatively painted floor to ceiling and wall to wall.
This pattern set is made up of 19 separate bamboo components, 7 leaves and 12 stalk sections. I wanted to allow the maximum artistic freedom in laying out the mural no matter how big or small the room may be. Another possible use for these motifs would be stenciling a bamboo design onto curtains.

This is not a repeat pattern so there are no registration marks to worry about.

As you can see from the picture, you can achieve (more…)

Came across these amazing anatomy stencils at TRUHST. Flickr user and artist, Sullivan Giles (skeletonandkey) utilizes her passion for Victorian design and medical illustration to create life size stencils of the human skeleton.

“Inspired by Victorian design, medical illustration, anatomy, dear friends & loves, the idea/existence/lack of time, steampunk aesthetics, simplistic beauty and trinkets of old world charm that are often forgotten or thrown away.”
